Prorec-BE vzw / asbl has been founded as a non-profit organisation under Belgian Law. The articles of association appeared in the Belgian Official Journal of 18 April 1996, with id 8292/96, 94977-60923P.

Prorec-BE's mission is to contribute to the widespread use of high quality electronic health records in Belgium.

Prorec-BE offers services to the scientific community, the authorities, the industry as well as to the individual user of these health records: healthcare professionals and patients.

Prorec-BE participates in specific research and standardisation projects, organises or co-organises the Annual Eurorec conference as well as special topic national workshops and conferences
